ABOUT

THE NEW STUDIO ON BROADWAY

MORE INFO

The New Studio on Broadway at NYU Tisch School of the Arts integrates foundational acting training with vocal and physical techniques, drawing upon the repertoire of the American musical, contemporary plays, and the traditional classical canon to hone the actor’s instrument in the three disciplines essential to being a Musical Theatre actor: Acting, Singing, and Dancing.

Students of the New Studio on Broadway are exposed to a wide variety of subjects and techniques, including voice/speech work, vocal performance, physical acting, Alexander Technique, and various dance styles, but foundational and core acting classes are the binding of New Studio training. As students move through the program, they are given opportunities to perform in productions of increasing scale. Here, they learn the values of collaboration and the power of ensemble driven work. These skills equip young artists to meet the fluid, changing demands of a progressive and diverse art form, both in New York and globally.

MORE INFO

Our relationship with the Tisch Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program provides unique collaboration opportunities for students, as well as the chance to foster relationships with the future writers of the American Musical theatre. This collaboration gives students the ability to work with composers, lyricists, and librettists at all stages of the creative process, from readings, to workshops, to full scale productions of new musicals. As the only collaboration program of its kind in the country, it is a core aspect of what makes the New Studio on Broadway… NEW!
